President Hage Geingob left for France this morning. The president will visit French president Francois Hollande and will try to increase trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. Dr Geingob will also open a new Namibian chancery while he’s in France. Business meetings between French and Namibian business sectors have been cancelled as Dr Geingob is making an unscheduled flight to Cuba instead. President Geingob will fly to Cuba to pay his personal respects and tribute from the people of Namibia to the people of Cuba in mourning for Fidel Castro. The President announced that former Namibian presidents, as well as prominent freedom fighters and former students in Cuba, will also travel to Cuba for this purpose. After the Cuban visit, president Hage Geingob will proceed as scheduled to the United Kingdom to meet Queen Elizabeth the second, for a meeting aimed at engaging investment and economy. Queen Elizabeth was last in Namibia in 1992. The President is expected back home on December the second.
