As part of efforts to continue to attract investors to Namibia after the investment promotion drives in the US and subsequent hosting of the Invest in Namibia Conference in Windhoek, President Hage Geingob leaves on official visits to France and the United Kingdom over the weekend. The visit to France is a continuation of high level visits between the two countries and President Geingob will engage in talks with his counterpart François Hollande. A number of economic agreements between the two countries will be signed as well as the inauguration of a new Namibian chancery in Paris. The Namibian leader will then depart for the United Kingdom where he is expected to meet Queen Elizabeth the Second. Dr. Geingob’s visits to the two European powers are extensions of his call to drive economic diplomacy in the face of a global recession and to help grow the Namibian economy. In a media release, the Presidency states that a series of investment events are planned whilst in London solely focused on Namibia. President Geingob will also deliver an address at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatman House, Berkeley Square, to be attended by students, leading academics and the general public. Chatham House is an independent policy institute whose mission is to analyse and promote the understanding of major international issues and current affairs. On Wednesday, the Head of State is expected to address more than 300 investors in the British capital, alongside investor bilateral meetings that he and accompanying Ministers will participate in. He returns on the 2nd of December.
