President Hage Geingob has commended the government of Mozambique for concluding the election peace pledge agreement with the opposition, RENAMO. Geingob says the agreement is an indication that Africa is committed to turning a new leaf. The election peace pledge agreement follows a peace accord by President Filipe Nyusi and RENAMO leader Ossofu Momade, which was signed on 1 August. This marks the end to the conflict between RENAMO armed and the government’s defence and security forces. The Presidency, in a statement to the media said President Geingob has been invited by his counterpart to witness the election peace pledge signing ceremony, in the Mozambican capital, Maputo on Tuesday. The President who left today is expected to address the ceremony.
