President Hage Geingob says Africa is relying on BRICS countries to transform the continent’s economies based on innovation and technology. Addressing the BRICS summit in Johannesburg today, President Geingob says most countries are challenged in meeting the needs of young and increasing populations. Namibia and some African states formed part of the BRICS outreach dialogue program. President Geingob told the summit that the only way countries would not be left behind is for BRICS member states to share growth models. He said BRICS Summit offers Africa the opportunity to contribute to the decision-making process, and reap the benefits from the economic cooperation among BRICS nations. The Namibian leader also proposed that the BRICS-Africa Outreach Dialogue be convened on an annual basis for continued and rewarding engagements. As Namibia assumes the Chairmanship of SADC next month, President Geingob called for increased partnerships among economic groupings. However, South African President and chairperson BRICS summit, Cyril Ramaphosa, proposed that the developmental programs be aligned within the context of the fourth industrial revolution. Meanwhile, the Summit has praised the establishment of the BRICS development bank. The bank intends to extend financing to all including non-member countries.
