Public hearings are scheduled to take place countrywide to regulate the import of foreign goods, once the country rectifies the AU Free Trade Agreement. This was announced at a weekly Cabinet briefing. The consultations, according to Information and Communication Technology Minister Stanley Simaata will also reflect on modalities for tariffs liberation, priority sectors, as well as develop regulatory frameworks. He says, the new measures, aims to guard against disadvantaging local products some of which are in their infancy stage, from foreign goods.
