Just two months ahead of the National Assembly and Presidential Elections opposing factions in the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) may be heading to court in which the legitimacy of the election of 3 June at the party’s National Convention will be contested. Mike Kavekora has been proclaimed as the winner out of a field of three presidential candidates, but the group questioning the validity of the elections has now consulted lawyers, who are now suggesting for an amicable solution to the debacle, before considering court action. Contacted for comment, Mike Kavekotora acknowledged having received the legal notice from Fisher Quarmby and Pfeifer attorneys representing the aggrieved group. Kavekotora, however, says he will challenge the nullification of his presidency saying he is the legitimate winner of the election.
