Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has shown a marginal improvement in 2018. The domestic product records a growth of 0,3% when compared to the contraction of 0,1% results released in the Preliminary National Accounts (PNA) 2018 based on 2010 prices. This was revealed by Statistician General of the Namibia Statistic Agency at the release of the National Account Revise policy held in Windhoek recently. Alex Shimuafeni revealed that Nominal GDP has shrunk than previously estimated and it is now estimated to have recorded about N$177 million compared to N$192 million released in the Preliminary National Accounts. This shows a decline of about N$15 million, representing a decline of 7,9%. The year 2018 has recorded a marginal growth of 0.3% in the economy compared to a decline of 0,1% in 2017. Shimuafeni says this shows a slight improvement in economic activities, relative to the previous year. The primary industries performances slowed down, posting a growth of 8,4% compared to the strong growth of 11.0% in real value-added in 2017.
