The Ministry of Finance appealed to Emergency Income Grant (EIG) applicants, who have received rejection notifications, to remain at home while a data reconciliation is carried out. The ministry, in a media statement, said the rejected are unemployed applicants who were rejected on the basis of appearing on the tax register or applicants who used incorrect details. Regarding fraudulent activities, if an applicant’s details are being used, the Finance Ministry urged applicants to remain home for now. EIG applicants who did not receive any response despite having filed their applications more than 72 hours ago are encouraged to reapply using the same correct details. EIG beneficiaries should observe social distancing when collecting their N$750 and the Finance Ministry dismissed rumours that the grant expires in two days at the ATM.
