Techla Ponde, the Regional Coordinator for Prison Health in Zimbabwe, is passionate about initiatives to rehabilitate and re-enter prisoners back into society. Ponde suggests that prisoners do not deserve double punishment, and after servicing their sentences, should be re-accepted by society, where they may become instrumental in developing society. The month of August is celebrated, among others, as women’s month, and a number of initiaves have already been set out as such, for women. The Regional Psycho-social Support Initiative, or REPSSI, is an organisation which annually hosts representatives of NGOs and government institutions, with an interest in enhancing psycho-social support. This year, the conference is being held at the Safari Hotel in Windhoek.
