The Southern African Development Community Climate Services Centre (SADC-CSC) is forecasting a likelihood of rainfall exceeding 50mm in 24 hours in some parts of the SADC region between 11 to 17 December 2019. Eastern Angola, easternmost of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), north-eastern Zambia north-western, northern and southern Tanzania, central and northern Mozambique, most of Madagascar and Seychelles will have a high probability to receive heavy rainfall above 50mm in a 24 hour period between 11 to 17 December. These rains are likely to result in localised flooding. National Meteorological and Hydrological Services in the SADC Member States are urged to closely monitor these events and update relevant institutions such as disaster risk management agencies at member states level to support preparedness and actions taken to protect lives and property.
