On this day, 11 February 1990, late former President Nelson Mandela told a gathering of supporters in Cape Town that South Africans have come to realise that apartheid had no future. Madiba delivered his speech after being released from prison at City Hall in the CBD. Thousands gathered to hear the speech or get a glimpse of the charismatic leader. The ANC has declared 2018 as the year of Nelson Mandela and he would have turned 100 years old this year.
