President Hage Geingob has relieved Immanuel Ngatjizeko of his duties as Minister of Presidential Affairs due to ill-health. The Presidency announce the development in a press statement, issued by the new press secretary, Alfredo Tjuirimo Hengari, on Wednesday. The decision, based on the recommendation of Ngatjizeko’s physician, is with immediate effect. Commending Ngatjizeko for his contribution in different capacities, President Geingob said, “you have been a model cadre and an outstanding servant to the Namibian people and this is evident through your reputation as an admired and respected leader within the community.” Ngatjizeko has been a Member of Parliament since 2000, and member of the Cabinet since 2003 when he was appointed Director-General of the National Planning Commission. He has also served as Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare and as Minister of Safety and Security.
