The Swakopmund-based charity organisation, Fighting Against Drug Use in Communities (FADUITC), also paid tribute to Founding President Sam Nujoma, describing him as a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the betterment of society.
The founder of the non-profit organisation, Marth Namhadi, stressed that the late President’s commitment to education and empowerment has inspired countless individuals to strive for a better future. Namhadi called on the nation to, as it honours Nujoma’s legacy, reflect on the pressing issue of drug addiction that threatens the very youth the Father of the Nation sought to uplift.
The nation, she said, must unite in the organisation’s efforts to combat the drug abuse crisis and create a community where every young person can thrive without the burden of substance abuse. Namhadi is concerned that while the government continues to provide opportunities for young people to study, they are facing the devastating crisis of drug addiction.
This leads many young people to leave school, resort to theft, become incarcerated, and engage in various social ills within our society. Therefore, Namhadi urges the relevant authorities to build rehabilitation centres to help those struggling with addiction begin their journey towards recovery.
