SWAPO, the Landless People’s Movement (LPM) and an independent candidate have registered with the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) to contest the upcoming by-election in the Otjiwarongo Constituency on 9 March. SWAPO is fielding Marlayn Sharley Mbakera as its candidate, LPM’s candidate is Sebeteus Guiteb while Erastus Mbumba will run as an independent candidate. This was confirmed by the ECN returning officer for the Otjiwarongo Constituency by-election, Japhet Karamata. The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) recently withdrew their candidate to throw their weight behind Mbumba.
