The DTA of Namibia aims to increase its presence in all regions by creating structures in each constituency. Its Secretary-General, Manuel Ngaringombe, announced the party’s intentions during a media briefing in the capital on Monday. The official opposition’s Management Committee and heads of wings have been mandated to do that. The decision to launch the mass restructuring, mobilisation and rebranding of the party was made at a retreat last week. The process will focus on the restructuring of constitutional structures from the lowest level upwards, creating at least six branches in each of the 121 constituencies and creating 726 branches by the end of 2018. The DTA has identified the Kavango East, Zambezi, Oshana, Hardap, Kunene South and Khomas regions as the six strategic regions to start implementing the structures. The meeting also decided to go ahead with plans to re-brand the DTA, for which President McHenry Venaani will appoint members of a Special Presidential Commission on Re-branding by next month. The new developments are part of the DTA’s campaign for the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
