The Mafwe Royal Establishment has joined other traditional authorities in remembering the late Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma.
The traditional authority gave its message of condolences while stating that, despite his death being deeply felt by the family, they must know that the nation joins them in mourning the late president and also celebrating his life’s achievements at the same time.
Other members of the traditional authority also took time to recall moments with the deceased, including former National Assembly MP Ellen Musialela.
“Nujoma was a disciplined man, a loving man, a determined man, and a person whom I cannot explain more than I can explain. He mentored me as a cadre of the liberation struggle; he showed me how to live with other people; he made me understand how to build a nation, and I thank God that we got to have him in this world. This had to teach us that, as a nation, we have to go ahead and follow his steps one by one so that we don’t make a mistake. It’s up to us whether we break it or we build this nation because this one was a great leader to us, and as you know, as we sang that song “Sema ulipeni”, it means that we were calling upon him to open the flag of the nation, and he really delivered that flag.”
Another member of the Mafwe Traditional Authority, Induna Patrick Muketela, appreciated the late Nujoma for his sacrifices.
“We feel deeply sad about the death of the Founding President, who was a parent to us all, who went to fight for this country’s independence. Spending so many years away from his home, suffering for our sake. Today we ask the Lord that we not forget his work here now that he has departed. We pray he rests in peace.”
