The Zambezi Water Front and Tourism Park at Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi region is ready for operation. This follows the accreditation of the park to meet the necessary requirements for business operations. Its Chief Executive Officer Jerome Mutumba says most of the challenges that were experienced have been dealt with. Operations at the park were earlier suspended by the Board of Directors due to non accreditation. Mutumba said that they had to put measures in place to help the company meet the requirements of the Namibia Tourism Board, NTB. Some of the challenges included the appointment of Mutumba at a time when the company started negotiations for retrenchment agreements with employees, which he spearheaded and successfully concluded in June. A total of 42 employees were laid off and the company is currently operating with 15 skeleton staff.
