Two men are set to appear in the Karasburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday after they were found in possession of cannabis weighing 644 kilogrammes on Saturday morning. Namibian Police Force ||Kharas Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo, told Nampa on Sunday that the two were arrested around 09h00, five kilometres outside of Grunau on the Karasburg-Grunau road. ‘The suspects were arrested after the truck they were driving was stopped by a traffic officer on a regular traffic operation. The officer stopped the trailer for wheel flaps which were not on when he, however, opened the driver’s door, he got a strong stench of cannabis,’ he said. Mubebo added that the officer informed the unit commander and after the truck was searched thoroughly, 26 big bags containing the cannabis were found. The value of the cannabis is N$6 446 400. The truck entered Namibia from South Africa through the Ariamsvlei border post. Police investigations continue. -NAMPA
