Four athletes from Namibia who competed for the Namibia School Sports Union at the second World School Games of the International School Sports Federation in Rio de Janeiro are expected to bring home one medal from the competition, which concluded on August 27.
Lieze Mwiza Munyaza, a competitor in the 100- and 200-meter races from the //Karas region, was one of the four athletes that competed in Brazil. Lazarus Manyima from Kavango East competed in middle and long distance running, while Alexandra Veronique Scheeppers from Khomas competed in long and high jump. Erongo resident Lodewikus L’Wyk Viljoen competed in the debate and shot-put throw.
As the solitary gold medalist for the Namibian competitors, Scheepers, who is 1.67 meters tall, excelled in the long jump.
Eveline Visagie, the team manager, reported that Namibia finished the just concluded competition in 27th place.
