A 25-year-old Zambian woman accused of murdering her newborn baby at Katima Mulilo in Zambezi region, has been denied bail. Sibeso Kelezo was remanded in the custody of the Namibian Police after being denied bail on Monday. Kelezo said she would apply for a State-funded lawyer, because she was unemployed and could not afford a private lawyer. The matter was postponed to the 28th of September. Kelezo, the mother of a four-year-old girl, faces charges of murder, concealment of birth and defeating the course of justice. She allegedly suffocated the baby by burying her in a shallow hole under a tree in the nearby bushes at Cowboy settlement. The baby girl weighed three-and-a half kilogrammes. Although it could not be established how long Kelezo has been staying in Namibia, she is married and her husband lives in Zambia.
