A Zambian national was arrested on Christmas Eve, after reportedly murdering his mother with an axe. The incident took place in the Kapolota village at Karma in Katima Rural. The deceased woman, 33-year-old Maria Mukelabai, was discovered hacked twice in the neck with the murder weapon. The incident is believed to have resulted from alcohol abuse by the suspect. The man is to make his first appearance in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court, on Friday.
