A study conducted by the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with UNICEF, indicates that the positive attitude of principals and teachers contribute to better performing schools. The study which was conducted in the //Karas, Khomas, Erongo, Oshikoto and Zambezi regions, was aimed at establishing why some schools perform better than others.

Floods in the Zambezi region have cut off villages and schools. The Masikili Primary School is among those cut off by the flood, while the road leading to the Masikili village is also flooded.

Fresh water fish prices have increased drastically due to its scarcity in the Zambezi Region. Both consumers and fish vendors at Katima Mulilo Open Market are now up in arms with the high fish prizes charged by fishermen.

Namibia has reached another milestone with the inauguration of the Namib Sand Sea on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. The inauguration took place on Friday. This is the second time a Namibian site is listed as a World Heritage Site, after Twyfelfontein in 2007.

President Hage Geingob will host President Mokgweetsi Masisi of the Republic of Botswana during a courtesy visit to Namibia. President Masisi will arrive on Monday 9 April 2018. The courtesy visit follows the recent swearing in and inauguration of President Masisi on 1 April 2018 as the fifth President of Botswana.

Nine out of 39 people identified as having come into contact with a man who recently died of Congo Fever, at Keetmanshoop, are believed to be at high risk. A medical doctor and a few health workers, are also under quarantine.

Newly appointed Minister of Presidential Affairs, Martin Andjamba, has been sworn-in. Andjamba took the oath at State House on Friday.
